Characters Name: Risa Miyakozawa, she seems to prefer being called 'Zawa' though.
Age: 15
Canon: Koukou Kyuuji Zawa-san
Canon Point: Chapter 42
Species: Human
Gender: Female
Orientation: Undetermined, she really hasn't shown any romantic inclinations towards anyone in the series as of yet
History:
There hasn't honestly been a whole lot of Zawa's history shown. She went to a private girl's academy in middle school. During her second year there, inspired by her older brother who played the game, she started playing baseball herself. She joined a Little Senior League which is is basically a middle school team not actually affiliated with any school. Playing as a pitcher and occasional shortstop, her and her team won the Grand Kanto Tournament two years in a row.
After graduating middle school she entered Nissen Academy and joined the baseball team there. Despite not being able to play in official games she continues to play with the team and pitch in practice matches.
Appearance:
Zawa is a bit on the tall side for a girl her age at 172 cm. She keeps her hair very short and frequently sports a tan from training outside. She's notiable very muscular and has a six pack as well as strong arms. She's also pretty proud of her hamstrings. Zawa has a tendency to wear her high necked undershirt under her school uniform so she can get changed for practice quicker. When not in school or baseball uniforms she typically wears athletic clothes that are comfortable and easy to move in. She really doesn't seem to give her looks all that much thought despite people thinking she's pretty cute. Typically she wears contacts to practice and alternates between contacts and her glasses for class.
Personality:
Zawa is... weird. That's pretty much the general conscientious of the people who know and interact with her regularly. She is singlemindedly obsessed with baseball, the sport she loves, and... kind of a space case with pretty much everything else. If she's not in practice she's jogging to train, reading baseball magazines, checking out her batting form with a broom while she's supposed to be on cleaning duty after school... She's an athlete at heart through and through.
And as an athlete she's always very concerned with her physical condition. She constantly trains and gets very concerned that loosing weight=loosing muscle mass, so she also drinks protein shakes. A lot. You could call her a protein shake connoisseur. She can even accurately identify both flavor and brand of protein shake via blind taste test. Just don't call them gross or weird in front of her. She takes it as a personal insult and get's all sulky and annoyed. But if you compliment her muscles she'll perk right up. She's ridiculously proud of her muscles and loves to show them off.
Zawa is a bit of a socially awkward sort of girl. It takes her a little while to warm up to people and until she get's to know them a little she can come off as someone cold and stand offish. This is mostly because she really doesn't know what to say so she usually doesn't say much of anything at all. And even when she does warm up to someone her answers are typically pretty short, and she can come off as blunt. Also there is a one hundred percent chance she's also not paying much attention because she's daydreaming about baseball things. But it can become clear quite quickly she's really not this aloof person. She gets easily and visibly embarrassed and flustered when people tease her or point out something weird she's done (like her tendency to 'mix' her shakes in class by taking a sip of water and a spoon full of shake power and swishing it around, or forgetting a change of underwear to change into after a game, or her inability to not touch someone's head after they've just had a haircut).
There's some teasing that she won't just stand idly by for. And that's teasing and taunting that call her baseball skills into question. She's a Good player. She knows she's good, and her coaches and teammates all acknowledge this. However players from other teams often think they're being looked down upon when they find out they'll be playing against a girl. She's not the hot blooded type so she'll never freak out on someone or yell and demand that she be acknowledged. She'll remain serious, and glare at the offender with this quiet sort of intensity that never fails to intimidate and make the offender sweat. She backs this up by showing off just WHY the coach lets her play in practice games as much as she does.
Practice games are the only way she can currently play. Because of the rules set up for the highschool leagues she isn't allowed to play in official games. She always claims it's fine just cheering her teammates on but she really isn't satisfied with only practice games. It's her one true dream to play in Koushien with her team, and not just watch from the sidelines.
Even if she can't though she's never bitter towards the other players who can and actually has a very good relationship with the team. She's very good friends with the other first years, especially Kusumoto, whom also has a crush on her (to which she is entirely oblivious to). She has no problem laughing and joking around with them, despite some of her weirdness still lingering. She often goes out to do karaoke or go to batting cages with them in her free time. She's often mistaken for either a team manager or the girlfriend of on of the players. She has no issues correcting them though.
Abilities:
Zawa is an excellent baseball player. She's a very talented pitcher who can also play shortstop and she has no problems hitting home runs. It's hard to describe her play style exactly as the series is more slice of life that revolves more around her life outside of games and practice but there are a lot of clues. Her pitching was good enough to bring her team victory in the Grand Kanto tournament two years in a row in middle school, and the one time scores from a practice game were shown it indicated that the opposing team only managed to score one point off of her (which might have been caused because a couple of her teammates were loudly griping about not being able to play causing a distraction for her). Though it has never been mentioned specifically, from the way she holds the ball in a few panels it can be assumed she throws mainly forkballs.

First Person:
[ Now Zawa typically isn't the type to just iniciate some conversation with strangers. But she's been thinking on something recently. And when she's been thinking too hard on a thing it typically has weird results. Which is why she's gone on the network this fine day. ]
So I been thinking. Yer all from different worlds huh? What kinda protein shakes ya got there?
[ Zawa. She knows how to ask the important questions. ]
Cause I've already tried just about every brand I could find back home, but maybe there's some other brands or weird flavors in other worlds... Like wasabi pea, or steak flavored shakes...
[ She rubs her chin as she traisl off, and seems to forgotten that she's still on. ]
...weird alien protein shakes that make ya grow an extra arm... ultimate muscle shake... one that multiplies ya...
Third Person:
There wasn't anything quite like a good jog first thing in the morning. Zawa wiped the faint sheen of sweat off her brow as she slowed near the park. She always took a quick break here to drink from the water fountain before finishing up. Usually this early in the morning there really wasn't anyone around. Which meant she was free to take a couple of minutes to do the OTHER thing she liked in the part.
It was right there in the bushes. Usually. She could hear the leaves rustling so she was pretty sure it was there today. She crouched down and reached into her pocket for the carrot she'd procured before going on her run. Today would definitely be the day she'd tempt it out, pet it, and make it the mascot of the baseball team. She just had to be careful and quiet... wait was that someone talking to her? Footsteps?!
Her hand shot out, blocking the other person from coming any further.
"SHHH! Yer gonna scare him!" she whispered harshly, "The rabbit..."
